Electoral materials hijacked in Okrika

Electoral materials for wards 6, 7, 8 and 9 in Okrika Local Government Area have been hijacked.

Theportcitynews gathered from reliable sources that security agencies saddled with the responsibility of taking the materials to the said wards have not been seen, neither have the materials been returned.

A local chief who spoke to theportcitynews on the phone said that he received several phone calls from concerned voters over the unfortunate incident and have worked tirelessly to solve the problem but the police are not cooperating.

He identified the Police DPO who supervised the high jacking of electoral materials as Nasiru Gambo adding that the DPO was aided by another captain of the Nigerian Army.

At Abonnema, thugs have reportedly disrupted an early morning set up by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission at one of the RAC centres.

Although the security agencies have calmed the situation, residents say there is growing apprehension over the eruption of violence during the entire process.
