INEC appoints President Buhari’s niece as head of national collation committee

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC has inaugurated an advisory committee for the 2019 general elections as well as a national collation centre committee.

A national commissioner, Air Vice-Marshal Ahmed Tijani Muazu heads the advisory and logistics committee, while another national commissioner, Amina Zakari heads the national collation committee.

INEC says it will use the international conference center as the presidential collation center just as it did in 2015.

The electoral body is also to meet with the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Friday, January 4, at 4pm in an effort to help resolve ASUU’s lingering trade dispute with the federal government, which the electoral umpire says may affect the conduct of the 2019 general elections.

INEC relies on university teachers and senior staff of other tertiary institutions as returning officers during the conduct of elections in Nigeria.
