TUC joins NLC strike in Rivers State

The Chairman Trade Union Congress (TUC) Rivers state, Comrade Austin Jonah has reiterated the commitment of the state’s council to embark on the 27th October (Today) national strike action.

Comrade Jonah who stated this while fielding questions from our reporter Tina Stephen said labour is fully prepared to embark on the strike, except there is a contrary directive from the national.

According to him, the federal government has reneged on its agreement to comply with the NLC to pay workers the new minimum wage.

He urged Rivers State workers to bear with the Nigerian Labour Congress as the fight is for the good of the Nigerian workforce.

“NLC is embarking on the warning strike action. What will eighteen thousand Naira minimum wage solve for anyone in this present economic situation?

“I want all labour workers to understand that what the union is doing is for the interest of all not just for government workers alone, both the private workers’ everyone is included”
