Ahead of the convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on October 6, 2018, Niger Delta youths under the aegis of Urhobo, South-South Youth Peace Mission (SSYPM), have thrown their weight behind one of the party’s presidential aspirants, Sule Lamido, to emerge the party’s flag-bearer.

This was contained in a statement signed by the deputy chairman, SSYPM, Comrade Godwin Erheriene, who described the former governor of Jigawa State as a man that believes in equity.

Erheriene said the group would do everything possible to ensure the emergence of the former minister of Foreign Affairs, as the party’s candidate.

The statement reads in part, “The South-South Youth Peace Mission, Niger-Delta Youth Assembly and other civil society Youth groups within the Niger-Delta axis have decided to make a clarion call via Comrade Godwin Erheriene as the convener of this apolitical youth groups.”

They noted that Lamido as a politician has been able to exhibit astute and political acumen which was demonstrated when PDP was in comatose from 2015 to 2017.
