OPay has explained how Nigerians can check their eligibility for the Federal Government’s N50,000 cash relief programme, warning customers against fraudsters seeking to exploit the intervention.
According to a Punch report on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the digital financial services company said the assistance, introduced under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI), is available only to Nigerians who meet the government’s eligibility requirements.
In a statement shared on its official X account, OPay disclosed that eligible customers would receive a pop-up notification on the homepage of their mobile application.

Customers who receive the notification are expected to click on it and follow the instructions to complete the required steps for accessing the relief payment.
However, the company clarified that customers who do not see the notification on their applications are not currently eligible for the programme.
OPay also stressed that it has no authority over the selection of beneficiaries, noting that eligibility decisions are determined by the Federal Government.
It advised customers seeking further clarification to contact the NERSI helpline on 07000222222 and warned them against responding to suspicious messages or sharing sensitive information with individuals claiming to facilitate the payment.
