AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim has provided an update on Samuel Chukwueze’s fitness after the Nigerian winger suffered a hip injury ahead of the club’s UEFA Europa League clash against Bournemouth.
Chukwueze missed Wednesday’s training session as Milan prepared for Thursday’s encounter with the Premier League side at the Vitality Stadium.
The 27-year-old is expected to undergo a specialist examination to determine the extent of the injury, which has raised concerns about his availability for upcoming fixtures.
Speaking ahead of the Bournemouth match, Amorim said further assessments would be needed before the club could establish the winger’s condition and potential recovery timeline.
“Tomorrow we will see the starting XI. Gonçalo has nothing serious. Chukwueze is a little bit different. I will see in the next few days. We are going to assess Chukwueze,” Amorim said.
The injury is understood to involve Chukwueze’s left hip, with reports indicating that the problem could keep him out for several weeks. However, his exact recovery period remains uncertain pending medical assessment.
Chukwueze’s absence would be a setback for Milan as they prepare for a demanding run of fixtures across domestic and European competitions.
The Nigerian international has featured regularly for the Italian side this season, and the club will be hoping the medical examinations provide clarity on the severity of the injury and when he could return to action.
For now, Milan are awaiting further assessments before determining the next steps in the winger’s recovery.
