Dangote Industries Limited and the Botswana Stock Exchange (BSE) have commended Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group) for strengthening collaboration among African capital markets to expand cross-border investment opportunities through the ongoing roadshow for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE offer.
The commendation was made on Wednesday during an investor engagement in Gaborone, Botswana, following an earlier session in Nairobi, Kenya. The roadshow forms part of NGX Group’s broader initiative to deepen cooperation among African exchanges, improve investor access and facilitate capital flows across the continent.
Murat Erden, Group Chief Financial Officer of Dangote Industries Limited, praised NGX Group Chairman, Alhaji Umaru Kwairanga, and Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Temi Popoola, for mobilising African exchanges to participate in the initiative.
Erden said the collaboration began with an engagement organised by NGX Group in Lagos in April 2026, noting that partnerships among exchanges were critical to expanding the reach of investment offers beyond domestic markets.
He also highlighted the role of technology in improving access to the refinery offer, particularly the integration of WhatsApp into NGX Invest, NGX Group’s electronic public-offering platform. He commended NGX Group and participating exchanges for their efforts to reach investors across their respective markets.
Similarly, Aobakwe Aupa Monyatsi, Chief Executive Officer of the Botswana Stock Exchange, welcomed the initiative, emphasising the importance of partnerships among African exchanges in broadening investor participation and creating access to investment opportunities across the continent.
Monyatsi also expressed support for efforts to bring additional African markets into the collaboration, saying broader participation would strengthen connections among the continent’s capital markets.

At the earlier engagement in Nairobi, Aliko Dangote, President and Chief Executive of Dangote Industries Limited, also commended Kwairanga and Popoola for promoting cooperation among African capital-market institutions.
Dangote noted that stronger relationships among exchanges could enable companies to raise funds across multiple markets rather than rely exclusively on their domestic capital markets.
Using the planned Dangote refinery project in Mokowe-Lamu, Kenya, as an example, he highlighted the potential for businesses operating across Africa to pursue listings in multiple markets, thereby diversifying their funding sources and broadening access to capital.
In his remarks, Kwairanga said the initiative reflected NGX Group’s ambition to strengthen connections among African capital markets and create more opportunities for businesses and investors.
“Our vision is to build stronger connections among African capital markets, making it easier for businesses to access capital and for investors to participate in opportunities across the continent. The collaboration around the Dangote Refinery offer demonstrates what African exchanges can achieve when we work together towards a shared objective,” he said.
Popoola said the initiative was designed to translate the vision of continental capital-market integration into practical partnerships capable of delivering tangible benefits to businesses and investors.
“When we began this engagement, our objective was continental: to bring African exchanges together and explore how we can create stronger connections between African capital markets,” he said.
NGX Invest, the group’s electronic public-offering platform, facilitates subscriptions through more than 180 distribution channels, including stockbrokers, banks and fintech companies. The addition of WhatsApp as an access channel is expected to provide investors with another convenient means of participating in the offer.
The roadshow is scheduled to continue with engagements at the Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Ethiopian Securities Exchange (ESX), extending the initiative to additional African markets.
Through the programme, NGX Group aims to strengthen cooperation among African exchanges, improve access to capital, widen investor participation and promote greater integration of capital markets across the continent.
