Former Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama, Rivers United technical adviser Finidi George and veteran coach Stanley Eguma are among the nominees for the 2026 South-South Media Excellence Awards (SSMEA) in Port Harcourt.
The trinity of Nigerian sports men are up for the Sports Personality of the Year award together with other personalities who have left indelible prints in the sports circles of the South-South geo-political area.
Enyeama, who has had a legendary career as a goalkeeper, shone internationally as a member of the Nigerian Super Eagles team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Finidi, a former Nigerian international, is a product of the 1994 golden generation and currently coaches Rivers United of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) in Port Harcourt.
Eguma, also a former Nigerian international, has been in Rivers United and other Nigerian clubs as a coach.
The SSMEA is an annual event designed to honour individuals, organisations and businesses that have made immense contributions in the media, entertainment, sports and other spheres of the South-South region.
According to the organisers of the 2026 edition, the event will hold on December 6 in Port Harcourt with veteran television presenter Frank Edoho as the master of ceremonies.
Meanwhile, the public voting for the 2026 South-South Media Excellence Awards has commenced in several categories.
