A 500-level nursing student expelled by Madonna University has made an emotional appeal to the institution to reconsider its decision and give her and other affected students a second chance following a viral TikTok video filmed inside the university’s teaching hospital.
The student, who said she was among the students expelled over the incident, broke down while expressing concern about how she would explain the development to her mother after years of study and sacrifice.
“How do I explain to my mother? I’m one of the dozen students that was expelled. After all these years, how do I explain to my mother?” she said.
The controversy followed a viral “Gen Z nurses” challenge video showing nursing students dancing at different locations within the university’s teaching hospital, including a waiting area, staircase and bus.

Madonna University reportedly confirmed that the video was recorded within its teaching hospital and subsequently imposed disciplinary sanctions on the students involved.
The incident has since drawn reactions from student bodies, including the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the Nigerian Universities Nursing Students’ Association (NUNSA), which have appealed to the university to reconsider the expulsions.
NANS acknowledged that the students’ conduct was inappropriate but urged the institution to replace the expulsion with a stern warning, arguing that the students should be given an opportunity to continue their education.
The appeal has brought renewed attention to the consequences of students’ conduct in clinical training environments and calls for the university to reconsider the sanctions imposed on those involved.
