National Democratic Congress (NDC) governorship candidate, Lulu-Briggs, has unveiled plans to transform Rivers State into a stronger economy, with an ambitious target of reaching $200 billion.
Speaking during a recent media interaction in the state, Lulu-Briggs blamed political divisions, weak institutions, poor infrastructure and underused resources for Rivers’ slow development.
He said his ambition was not simply to win an election but to restore unity and rebuild trust among residents.
Reflecting on his childhood, he said communities once lived as families, shared resources and supported one another regardless of ethnic or political differences. He argued that politics had weakened those bonds.
Lulu-Briggs said Rivers had the oil, coastline, ports and airport needed to compete economically with Lagos but lacked the infrastructure and governance to fully harness them.

He proposed a 200-kilometre bi-directional expressway linking Esaka through Bakana and Tombia to the East-West Road, saying it would improve trade and attract investment in logistics, ports and hospitality.
He also proposed a bonded container terminal around the Andoni-Okrika axis and plans to develop tourism and the creative economy.
On education, he promised stronger public schools and skills training in technology, oil and gas, and logistics.
For small businesses, he proposed N20 billion to N30 billion in interest-free loans, with eligible businesses accessing between N5 million and N15 million.
He also promised more doctors, rural health incentives, transparent government spending, and technology-driven land administration.
As the 2027 election approaches, Lulu-Briggs urged voters to protect their votes and focus on Rivers State rather than political personalities. “Transparency will be my watchword,” he said
