The Bonny Local Government Council in Rivers State has begun distributing relief materials to residents affected by recent flooding in parts of the area.
The intervention is aimed at providing immediate assistance to families whose livelihoods and daily activities have been disrupted by the flood.
The materials, donated by the Rivers State Government, include food items and other essential supplies.
They comprise 150 bags of 25-kilogramme rice, 400 bags of 10-kilogramme beans, 30 bags of 25-kilogramme salt and 40 gallons of 10-litre palm oil.

Also distributed are 14 cartons of Knorr seasoning cubes containing 196 packets, 25 cartons of vegetable oil with 300 packets, 120 bags of 25-kilogramme garri and 200 cartons of Indomie noodles.
Other non-food items were also provided to support affected residents.

Chairman of Bonny Local Government Council, Amasenibo Abinye Blessing Pepple, thanked the Rivers State Flood Prevention and Management Committee for the intervention.
The committee is headed by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Professor Ngozi Odu.

Pepple also expressed appreciation to the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, for supporting communities affected by the flood.
He said the relief effort would help ease the hardship faced by residents as they recover from the impact of the flooding.
The council said the distribution is part of efforts to support affected households and provide immediate relief during the flood situation.
The materials are being distributed to residents identified as victims of the flooding across affected communities in Bonny Local Government Area
