The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has declared that he will tender his resignation from President Bola Tinubu’s government in case the incumbent does not emerge victorious during the elections in the FCT and Rivers State in 2027.
These declarations came when the minister spoke to the leaders and members of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.
These revelations were revealed by Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant to Wike on Public Communication and Social Media, through a press release published on Wednesday.
According to Olayinka, Wike said he would tender his resignation letter on 17th January 2027 should the ruling party lose either of the two locations, FCT and Rivers, in the presidential election slated for 16 January.
According to Wike, the election results will be used to gauge the effect of his political power, arguing that there will be no need for him to stay in the government if he fails to get elected president in the two states where he has a lot of political influence.
Furthermore, according to Wike, he intends to form an alliance in FCT with the intention of winning all the legislator’s election in the state.
The former Rivers State governor further said that he will support Tinubu for reelection and also Philip Aduda and two representatives who were formerly chairmen of area council.
Wike described the above-mentioned politicians as politically savvy with enough base to win the elections irrespective of their political affiliations.
The political alliance will help in bringing together different political groups ahead of 2027 elections to win for the president and his allies.
