Port Harcourt’s First Son, Duncan Mighty, is set to bring his distinctive sound and Port Harcourt identity to Lagos as he joins Patoranking and Mr P for VANITI Lagos’ third anniversary celebration.
The Port Harcourt singer and producer is scheduled to perform on Saturday, September 26, as the Lagos nightlife venue marks three years of operations with a two-weekend celebration featuring established names in Nigerian music.
The anniversary kicks off on Friday, September 25, with Patoranking headlining the opening night. Duncan Mighty takes over on Saturday, while Mr P is scheduled to close the first weekend on Sunday, September 27.
The celebration will return for another round from October 2 to 4, with the full lineup for the second weekend yet to be announced.
For Port Harcourt, however, Duncan Mighty’s appearance adds a familiar local identity to the Lagos celebration.
The singer has long been associated with Port Harcourt, where he was born and where he built much of his early music career. He is widely known by the nickname “Port Harcourt’s First Son”, a title strongly connected to his music and public image.
Duncan Mighty began his musical journey in Port Harcourt, initially working as an instrumentalist and choir director before studying audio engineering.
His 2008 debut album, Koliwater, produced songs including “Ijeoma”, “Ako Na Uche”, “Scatter My Dada” and “Dance For Me”. His follow-up album, Ahamefuna (Legacy), further established his name with songs such as “Port Harcourt Son” and “Obianuju”.
His profile received another major boost in 2018 following his collaboration with Wizkid on “Fake Love”, which brought him back into the national spotlight after several years away from the centre of mainstream attention.
