The Obio/Akpor 10th Legislative Council on Thursday 24, September 2026 held its 22nd sitting of the second legislative session and passed the Obio/Akpor Tenement Rate and Administration Bill, 2026 into law.
The session, presided over by the Leader of the House, Rt. Hon. Rex-Milia Abuchi Amadi, saw the lawmakers adopt the Votes and Proceedings of the previous sitting after the Clerk, Mrs. Sandra Aaron Igwe, Esq., read them out. Hon. Michael Uche Azuonwu moved the motion for adoption, seconded by Hon. Henry Amadi.
In his opening remarks, Amadi urged members to remain committed and diligent in performing their legislative duties.
The House Committee on Finance, through Hon. Justice Eziwho Ibebulachi, presented its report on the Tenement Rate Bill. After clause-by-clause consideration, the bill was read a third time and passed unanimously.
Consideration of the Obio/Akpor Anti-Land Grabbing, Unlawful Occupation and Land Development (Regulations) Bill, 2026 was stepped down.
The Deputy Leader, Hon. Chinda Nyekwere, presented the committee report, after which the Leader directed that it be re-laid at the next sitting.
Members were also informed of the death of the husband of the Clerk and briefed on burial arrangements fixed for October 2026.
The sitting was adjourned following a motion by Hon. Stanley Ogbugo Owhonda, seconded by Hon. Henry Amadi.
