The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has advised Nigerians to remain alert to possible symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) as an outbreak continues in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The warning was contained in an advisory signed by the NCDC Director-General, Dr Jide Idris.
The agency urged travellers and members of the public to seek medical attention quickly if they develop symptoms associated with the disease. It also advised people to provide accurate information about recent travel or possible exposure to infected persons when seeking healthcare.
According to the NCDC, travellers arriving from countries where Ebola transmission is active or considered relevant may be required to complete Health Declaration Forms as part of strengthened health surveillance at points of entry.
However, passengers arriving from other countries are currently not required to complete the forms.

The agency explained that the updated measures followed a fresh assessment of the Ebola situation, consultations with public health experts and discussions with the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.
The NCDC said Nigeria remains on high alert and is continuing preparedness activities aimed at detecting and preventing the possible importation and spread of Ebola.
It added that the measures would be reviewed regularly as new information about the outbreak and associated public health risks becomes available.
The agency assured Nigerians that it remains committed to protecting public health through surveillance, preparedness, and effective response to emerging infectious diseases.
The NCDC also encouraged the public to remain informed and cooperate with health authorities to help prevent the spread of potential infections.
