The Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State, Eugene Epelle, has vowed to ensure justice for a young woman whose body was recovered from a stream in Ogoda Community.
Epelle, who visited the community on September 19 alongside security operatives and other officials, condemned the killing and pledged the council’s support for efforts to identify and prosecute those responsible.
The traditional ruler of Ogoda, Chief Obutu Tom, said he was informed on September 12 that the woman had allegedly been abducted from Ahoada Minta in neighbouring Ahoada East and taken to Ogoda, where she was reportedly killed.

Tom said he subsequently reported the incident to the police, leading security agencies and members of the community to launch efforts to locate the victim and recover her body from the stream.
Two suspects have reportedly been arrested and are currently in police custody in connection with the incident.
Epelle assured residents that the council would work closely with the police and other security agencies to ensure a thorough investigation and prosecution of anyone found culpable.
He also reiterated that security remained a priority of his administration, urging residents to promptly report suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities.
