The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has endorsed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike-led Rainbow Coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, describing the political alliance as the best strategy for the state.
In a statement signed by the state APC Chairman, Tony Okocha, and Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, the party said it was fully aligned with the coalition led by Wike.
The party pledged to collaborate with political parties, individuals and groups within the coalition to secure substantial votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other candidates supported by the alliance in Rivers State.
According to the APC, political alliances are legitimate tools for strengthening political participation, promoting unity and advancing the interests of citizens.
It maintained that Rivers State had the right to develop political partnerships that would protect the interests of its people.
The party also cautioned political groups outside the state against attempting to influence or dictate Rivers’ political direction ahead of the 2027 elections.
The APC said its coalition strategy had contributed to its performance during the 2023 presidential election, particularly in delivering votes to Tinubu and other candidates.
It expressed confidence that the arrangement would produce even better results in 2027, promising “massive votes” for Tinubu and other coalition candidates.
The Rivers APC further called on the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) to intensify consultations, mobilisation and alliance-building efforts with political groups in their respective states.
The party stressed that Nigeria’s political environment was not uniform, arguing that strategies must reflect the unique realities and interests of individual states.
Reaffirming its commitment to Wike’s Rainbow Coalition, the APC described the alliance as an arrangement that had consistently benefited the party and the state.
It added that it had no regrets about helping to establish the coalition, saying the arrangement would promote greater political participation and development in Rivers.
