Members of the Governing Council of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) have concluded a two-day inspection tour of ongoing projects across Ogoniland as part of efforts to strengthen oversight and ensure timely project delivery.
The inspection was conducted in line with the Council’s oversight responsibilities and focused on assessing the progress of key projects being implemented under HYPREP.
Among the projects inspected were the 100-bed Ogoni Specialist Hospital, 132KVA Ogoni Power Project, water facilities in B-Dere, the land and shoreline cleanup site in B-Dere, and the Livelihood Training Centre for Software Development, among others.
The HYPREP Project Coordinator, Professor Nenibarini Zabbey, was represented during the inspection by the Director of Technical Services, Professor Damian-Paul Aguiyi, who led members of the Governing Council to the various project sites.
The inspection provided an opportunity for the Council to assess the level of progress on the projects and identify areas requiring attention to facilitate their timely completion.
The visit underscores the commitment of the Minister of Environment and Chairman of the HYPREP Governing Council, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, and other Council members to effective oversight and the timely delivery of ongoing projects aimed at improving the lives of people in Ogoniland.
