Nigerian comedian and actor Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has broken his months-long silence on social media with a cryptic Instagram post that has reignited concern among fans over his well-being.
On Monday, the skit maker shared a clip from Afrobeats singer Ruger’s unreleased song, Jesus Loves Me, on his Instagram Story. The lyrics, which reflected on trials, faith and survival, quickly drew attention due to the comedian’s prolonged absence from public life.
Part of the lyrics read: “Trials and tribulations, but Oluwa be my comfort… It could have been worse. I could have been lost, or maybe long gone… I’m not stressing myself no more… Every day goes by, I realize Jesus loves me.”
The post comes months after reports emerged in March 2026 claiming Broda Shaggi was shot in the thigh while filming a skit near Sango-Ota, Ogun State. Although the police said they had no record of the incident, the comedian subsequently withdrew almost completely from the public eye.
His activity on social media dropped significantly, while people close to him dismissed rumours about his death and sought to reassure concerned fans.

Although he briefly resurfaced in July to tease an upcoming movie project, he has largely remained out of the spotlight and has not publicly addressed the circumstances surrounding his absence.
Fresh concerns intensified after Broda Shaggi failed to attend the star-studded wedding of TikTok couple Peller and Jarvis in Lagos, an event attended by many of Nigeria’s biggest entertainers, content creators and social media personalities.
His absence prompted fellow comedian Cute Abiola to publicly appeal for his return, describing him as “the life of the party” and saying the entire content creation industry misses him.
Broda Shaggi’s latest social media activity has now sparked fresh speculation among fans, many of whom hope it signals his gradual return to the entertainment scene, even as he has yet to make any official statement about his health or extended absence.
