The Turkish club introduced the signing on Wednesday, revealing that the Nigerian will wear the “Anatolian Eagles” No. 15 shirt as part of an imminent marketing campaign worldwide. Awaziem comes from French club FC Nantes, leaving Nantes after the heartbreak of the landing
The move concluded the end of a brief and turbulent spell in France for the Nigerian defender. Awaziem joined Nantes last summer from Major League Soccer (MLS) side the Colorado Rapids, hoping to establish himself as a mainstay in Ligue 1.
But no matter his performance, Nantes has had a disastrous domestic marketing campaign that ultimately landed it in the French top flight.
Unwilling to play in Ligue 2 during the essential phase of his career, Awaziem moved for a direct exit in the summer transfer window, and Konyaspor moved swiftly to take advantage of the situation, offering the Nigerian a new chance in the league where he has thrived in the past.
For Awaziem, adapting to life in Turkey will not be difficult. The Süper Lig has long been a familiar environment for the defender, who has loved a successful spells in the country playing for two extraordinary clubs in the past.
