Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has urged stronger collaboration with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to back ongoing initiatives aimed at overhauling Nigeria’s Almajiri educational system and enhancing access to formal schooling for children.
She expressed this request during a courtesy call by the Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Nigeria, Yousef Bin Muhammed Albalawi, at her office.

Mrs. Tinubu stated that restructuring the Almajiri system remains a crucial step in addressing the rising number of out-of-school youth, highlighting that numerous impacted children are susceptible to starvation, abandonment, and exploitation.
According to the First Lady, delivering high-quality education to children within the Almajiri framework is essential for safeguarding the nation’s future and guaranteeing them superior prospects in life. Ambassador Albalawi, who commenced his diplomatic duties in Nigeria roughly five months ago, declared his commitment to bolstering the enduring relationship between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia while broadening bilateral cooperation.
