The death of a tricycle driver occurred on Monday as a result of an accident between the tricycle he drove and a Dangote truck on Okaka Expressway, close to Okaka Primary School in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
The tragic accident sparked demonstrations by the locals as well as road users who blamed the accident as having taken place close to a FRSC checkpoint and blamed the FRSC of being part of the accident.
But, the Bayelsa Sector Commander of the FRSC, Corps Commander Sylvanus Oke-Ordu, denied the claims and said that the FRSC was not involved in the accident.

It was stated that the members of the corps left the scene to follow up on the tricycle driver who fled from the accident scene and the driver was apprehended and turned over to the police.
The sector commander conveyed his sympathy to the family of the victim and termed the occurrence as unlucky.
In addition, he pleaded with all drivers of trucks and other motorists to abide by speed limits set out and to make sure that speed limiters are properly working on their trucks.
The driver of the truck is still in custody with the police as investigations continue as to the cause of the crash.
