The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has introduced a new feature that allows holders of the National Identification Number (NIN) to download their digital NIN slips free of charge as part of efforts to improve access to digital identity services.
The commission made the announcement in a post on X, formerly Twitter, stating that the feature is available through the updated NINAuth application and is designed to provide users with enhanced privacy, stronger security and easier access to digital identity services.
NIMC said the new feature enables users to download their official digital NIN slips directly from the app without paying any fee.
The commission explained that the update is intended to provide a more secure and convenient way for NIN holders to access their identity documents while reducing the need for physical processes.
According to NIMC, the latest version of the NINAuth app comes with improved privacy and security features to better protect users’ personal information.
It added that the update also provides seamless access to more integrated digital services as part of efforts to improve users’ digital identity experience.
NIMC advised those who have not installed the NINAuth application to download it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to access the new feature.
The commission also urged existing users to update the application to the latest version to enjoy the additional features and improvements.
The new feature is expected to simplify access to NIN slips by allowing users to retrieve the document digitally through the NINAuth application without visiting enrolment centres.
