In a stern crackdown on escalating land grabbing, Executive Chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Chief Obarilomate Ollor, has suspended all real estate activities across the council pending thorough verification.
Addressing journalists on Thursday, July 2, 2026, Chief Ollor decried the persistent invasion of ancestral lands, especially along the Woji-Aleto-Alesa Link Road and the Agbonchia-Akpajo axis of the Port Harcourt Ring Road.
“Land grabbers, in collusion with some real estate developers and armed thugs, have terrorised women, youths and farmers, extorting landowners and destroying property,” he said. “Our people are harassed and forced to pay illegal tolls on their own farmlands.”
The chairman while issuing a series of directives to developers, surveyors and individuals noted that clearance must be obtained from the Eleme LGA Council before any land transaction can be concluded.
According to him, those engaged in illegal grading, sales or encroachment of ancestral lands have been ordered to vacate immediately or face prosecution.

Chief Ollor reaffirmed that the lands in question remain the ancestral property of the Eleme people, citing the 1957 Supreme Court judgment and the White Paper of the Justice Charles Granville Commission, which vested radical title in the Eleme people.
He named alleged key actors including Martins Ala (Don Amadi Boy), Kingsley Udo Akpan, Kelechi Uzorma, Bullus, John Opobo, Emeka Ibe, Mark Anthony, Christopher Ogolo and Anderson Pepe, warning them to desist or face the full weight of the law.
Several real estate firms, including Mercy of Mercy Land Properties, Royal Echelon (Entero Homes), Navitals, Kings Estate, Rainbow Heritage, Capital City, Nemteras Estate and others were directed to report immediately to the council for verification.
The chairman said the council has petitioned the Rivers State House of Assembly for a full investigation and called on security agencies, especially the Commissioner of Police, to restore order.
“We will not surrender an inch of our ancestral land to criminals,” Ollor declared.
