The Nigerian Oil and Gas Park Scheme (NOGaPS), Emeyal-1, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is about to be completed and is set to commence operations in the fourth quarter of 2026.
This was announced by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) after senior members of its team inspected the progress of the construction on the site. It is reported that measures are being taken to make sure the project is launched as planned.
A key aspect of making this happen is the installation of a 2.5 megawatt Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) plant which will supply electricity for industrial purposes.
It is important to highlight that progress in infrastructure development has been made on critical areas. Among the completed facilities are shop floors for manufacture, water treatment facility, classroom building, accommodation facilities, residential apartment building for trainees and visitors, and an amphitheater.
Other power infrastructures that have been completed include the transformer station, switchgear house, and the generator. Besides, a contract has already been signed for the reclaiming of ponds inside the park using sand filling. The six manufacturing sheds to be erected in the reclaimed area shall provide room for investors and service providers.
NOGaPS project aims to increase local participation in the oil and gas sector of Nigeria by creating a platform for the manufacture of oil and gas industry components and equipment.
Once completed, the park is expected to generate over 2,000 jobs, promote the operations of local companies, lessen reliance on foreign oil and gas machines, and foster economic development.
The NCDMB once again showed their determination to finish the project as well as increase local involvement in the industry.
