British-Nigerian singer and songwriter Talay Riley has died after reportedly being stabbed in east London, an incident that has triggered a murder investigation.
His brother shared the heartbreaking news, writing, “I never imagined the day would come when I would be writing this.”
The artiste, whose real name was Mark Yinka Orabiyi, was 35 years old. Reports indicate that the attack happened at about 9 p.m. on Friday along Pankhurst Avenue in Silvertown, east London. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but he was sadly pronounced dead.
Detectives from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crimes Command have since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
Riley’s family confirmed the news through an Instagram post, remembering him as a gifted songwriter and performer whose work earned international recognition, including Grammy success and multi-platinum achievements.
In their tribute, the family thanked supporters for the outpouring of love and condolences while describing Talay as someone whose talent and influence touched many lives.
His brother, Scribbs, expressed deep grief over the loss, saying it still feels unreal. He described Riley as someone with one of the kindest hearts he had ever known a person who loved wholeheartedly, gave generously, and left a lasting impact through his music, compassion, and spirit.
