The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening workforce capacity as part of efforts to enhance service delivery across the state.
This formed part of key resolutions reached during the agency’s management meeting for June 2026, held on Thursday, June 4, at the office of the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Vetty Agala.
The management resolved to participate in the maiden National Summit for State Social Health Insurance Agencies (SSHIA), scheduled to take place in Akure, Ondo State, from June 8 to 9, 2026.
As part of its drive for improved efficiency, the agency also concluded plans to embark on a study tour of the Delta State Health Insurance Agency, ñregarded as one of the leading state health insurance schemes in the country.
In addition, the management emphasized the adoption of digital and electronic platforms for reporting activities and data collection, aimed at minimizing errors associated with manual documentation.

The meeting further resolved that staff remuneration would be performance-based, while underperforming personnel may be disengaged to promote discipline and productivity within the system.
Heads of departments were urged to ensure optimal performance among their team members. The agency also noted that staff without clearly defined roles may be affected as part of an ongoing workforce restructuring process. Employees were advised to channel requests and reports through appropriate departmental heads.
The new policy measures are expected to take effect from July 2026, with department heads directed to adequately inform their teams to ensure a smooth transition.
The meeting concluded with prayers for the government and people of Rivers State, as well as for peace and security in Nigeria.
