“Focus on Aviation Sector”—PDP Fires Back At Keyamo Over 2027 Jonathan Ticket Mockery

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reacted to Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo, who had spoken about former President Goodluck Jonathan and the presidential election of 2027.

In its response, the opposition political party stated that Mr. Keyamo should concentrate on the problems associated with the aviation industry and not make statements regarding matters of the PDP party.

This was after the minister had made some statements regarding Jonathan after the former president was backed by a faction of the PDP as its candidate for the presidential election of 2027.

Keyamo rejected the decision and called on Jonathan to disassociate himself from the move because it might ruin his reputation internationally.

Reacting to this, the PDP accused Keyamo of abandoning the democratic values of Nigeria, which he always advocated as a public interest lawyer and activist.

The party noted that it was very ironic how someone who previously advocated for freedom of speech and inclusiveness of the political process is suddenly scared of opposition politics and the increasing dialogue on Jonathan’s comeback.

As per the PDP, the APC-led government has been getting more agitated in recent days due to what they claim as increasing sympathy for the ex-president in some sections of the country.

Further, the party advised Keyamo to focus his efforts on addressing the problems that beset the Nigerian aviation industry, including operations and infrastructural problems, as well as the suffering of the citizenry.

It stressed that Nigerians would be less concerned about politics and the exchange of opinions between government officials and the opposition, and more worried about insecurity and socio-economic hardships like the increased cost of living.

Additionally, the PDP took a jibe at the minister’s role in government, pointing out that Keyamo had no moral right to criticise Jonathan’s administration.

PDP justified this by defending the former president’s tenure, arguing that Nigerians recall him fondly due to stability and economic prosperity during his time in office.

The PDP also emphasized that Nigerians retain their liberty to align themselves with any political figure they prefer and threatened that intimidating critics would prove futile.

The APC led federal government has not been able to provide good governance since it assumed power in 2015, PDP blasted the party.
