The former Nigerian international and African Footballer of the Year Victor Ikpeba have tipped the Super Falcons of Nigeria as the favorite by Year clinch this year WAFCON.
While talking in the SuperSport’s Monday Night Football, Victor Ikpeba said the Super Falcons have a lot of talented players, of which many of these players are playing for clubs in Europe, North America and other places.
He believes no other African team can match the Super Falcons when it comes to having female football players. Victor Ikpeba said “We are always the team to beat.”
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has arranged some friendly matches for the Super Falcons, they will play against Senegal in Remo and Victor Ikpeba seems to be happy about this. He said “Kudos to the NFF. I said it months ago, it was never intentional the NFF will do what is right for our girls to go there and defend their title.”
The Super Falcons will play two matches against Senegal and this will help them get ready for the WAFCON, which starts on 25 July, and the Ex-Eagles thinks this is an opportunity for the team to get sharper and work better together.
He also said “At the end of the day our girls are everywhere in Europe and America. Not every African country has the pedigree of having their girls play abroad. Nigeria is spoilt for choice, with those girls who are spread around the world.”
The Super Falcons have won the championship nine times, they intend to win it again in 2026, and Victor Ikpeba thinks they can do it now that they have some matches to help them get ready.
