Following the directive of the Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, dissolving the tactical teams within the State Command to ensure repositioning, the Commissioner of Police of Rivers State, Olugbenga Adepoju, has taken steps to comply with the directive.
In an effort to improve performance and restore credibility within the force, this decision has been made, according to the police public relations officer, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, as revealed on Wednesday.
All the previous teams that existed will henceforth operate under one team called the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), a special unit that responds to incidents of violent crimes, observing due process and human rights protocols.
