APC Unveils 2027 Election Timetable, Fixes Presidential Primary for May

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Argungu unveiled the timetable and programme of activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The party’s National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka in a statement issued on Monday night, said Argungu endorsed the schedule.

According to the timetable, the APC will hold its presidential primary between 15 and 16 May 2026.

The sale of expression of interest and nomination forms is set to run from 25 April to 2 May, while the submission deadline for completed forms has been fixed for 4 May at the party’s national secretariat.

The party set the cost of the presidential form at ₦100 million, broken down into ₦30 million for the expression of interest and ₦70 million for the nomination.

Governorship aspirants are expected to pay ₦50 million, while forms for the National Assembly and state legislatures are pegged at ₦20 million for the Senate, ₦10 million for the House of Representatives, and ₦6 million for State Houses of Assembly.

Screening of aspirants will take place from 6 to 8 May, with results due on 11 May. Appeals are scheduled for 12 to 13 May.

Primaries for other elective positions have also been mapped out: the House of Representatives on 18 May, the Senate on 20 May, the State Houses of Assembly on 21 May, and governorship contests on 23 May.

The party has earmarked 25 May for the conclusion of all appeals arising from the primaries, noting that the entire exercise will be completed within eight days.

Argungu said the timetable provides clear guidance on each stage of the process, including screening, appeals and the conduct of primaries.

He added that the party remained committed to a transparent and credible exercise that would deepen internal democracy and uphold its progressive values.
