Nollywood star and singer Peter Okoye, popularly known as Mr. P, has revealed how the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson, shaped his entire music career.
The former P-Square member spoke in a recent interview with Nile Entertainment while promoting an upcoming Michael Jackson biopic.
Peter said his admiration for Michael Jackson started at a very young age. He grew up watching the legend’s videos and copying his every move.
“Michael Jackson made me a star. From when I was a small boy, I watched his videos every day. His dance, energy, and stage presence inspired me to become an entertainer,” Peter stated.
He added that the global icon’s style influenced both his P-Square days and solo career.
“Whenever I stepped on stage, I thought of Michael. He taught me how to own the stage and connect with fans. He remains my biggest inspiration till today,” he said.
Peter Okoye, one half of the famous but now-defunct duo P-Square, became known for his energetic dance moves and hit songs. He admitted that much of his performance style came directly from studying Michael Jackson.
The singer expressed excitement about the new biopic, saying it will introduce the King of Pop’s magic to a new generation.
Fans reacted warmly to Peter’s comments. Many agreed that Michael Jackson’s influence is still visible in Mr. P’s dance steps and live performances.
