Police Reassure Students as JAMB Exams Begin, Debunk Safety Claims

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has cleared the air over rumours claiming that some JAMB examination centres in a North Central state may not be safe, describing the reports as false and unfounded.

In a statement released ahead of the exams scheduled to begin on April 16, 2026, the police said there is no credible threat to any centre. However, it acknowledged that such concerns especially those involving students should not be ignored.

To reassure the public, the Force said it has already stepped up security across the country. Officers have been deployed to examination centres, both visibly and behind the scenes, to ensure everything runs smoothly.

The police explained that routine patrols, perimeter monitoring, and standby response teams have been arranged in key areas. It also noted that it is working closely with other security agencies to keep track of any possible risks and respond quickly if needed.

Parents and candidates were assured that the necessary measures are in place to provide a safe and calm environment for the exams.

Students have been advised to get to their centres early, follow all examination rules, and speak up if they notice anything unusual around them.

The police also warned against spreading or believing information from unverified sources, especially on social media, urging the public to rely only on official updates from JAMB and the NPF.

Reaffirming its commitment, the Force said it remains focused on ensuring safety during national activities like the JAMB exams and thanked Nigerians for their continued cooperation.
