The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Party in Rivers State has successfully conducted its Ward/LGA Congress across 17 Wards in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.
Our correspondent, who monitored the Congress exercise, reports that the electoral process brought in new Chairmen at the Ward and local government level alongside other Party executives.
The exercise conducted by a three-man ADC State Electoral Committee was said to be peaceful and credible.
Speaking on behalf of the electoral committee, Engr. Nnamdi Ohuru described the process as hitch-free.
Ohuru explained that the committee moved across the wards to supervise the exercise, adding that there were no incidents of violence, disagreement, or obstruction.
He further noted that the process signifies the party’s commitment to ensuring harmonisations were met at all levels.

ADC stalwart in the state, Hon. Tony Boms, maintained that the party remains the most viable alternative, while expressing confidence that ADC will emerge victorious come the 2027 general elections.
He also affirmed that the peaceful conduct of the congress was a result of the wide recognition given to the party by the people, as they are already positioned to deliver effective good governance.
Boms urged newly elected executives to abide strictly by the party’s constitution and laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the discharge of their duties.
Also speaking, the ADC Chairman in Obio/Akpor LGA, Shadrach Igwe, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the congress.
Igwe urged residents of Rivers State to join the party, describing the State chapter as non-discriminatory, which is open to every individual irrespective of the tribe. While pointing out the party’s commitment to addressing economic challenges and improving the welfare of Nigerians.
He emphasised that the current economic situation in the country has driven many citizens to seek credible alternatives, stressing that ADC is gaining full support nationwide.
