AMVCA Set To Release Names Of 2026 Nominees

The 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards are set to reveal their nominees on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

The announcement will be broadcast live across Africa Magic channels, with popular Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo serving as host for the special programme.

Organisers revealed this update on Monday 23 March 2026, through the awards’ official social media accounts, building anticipation among fans and industry stakeholders. “The spotlight is on… and it’s time to get to know your nominees,” the post read, inviting viewers to tune in for the unveiling.

The 12th edition of the prestigious AMVCA, organised by MultiChoice in collaboration with Canal+, aims to honour outstanding achievements in African film and television.

A detailed call for entries was published on the Africa Magic website on January 10, 2026, confirming that submissions opened on January 11 and closed on February 15.

Eligible entries included feature films and television content publicly screened or broadcast between January 1 and December 31, 2025. Qualifying feature films needed exhibition in cinemas, on linear television, or via streaming platforms.

This year’s awards will encompass 32 categories in total: 18 determined by a jury, 11 open to public voting, and special honours including Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer recognitions.

A key highlight is the introduction of two new categories Best Indigenous Language (North Africa) and Best Indigenous Language (Central Africa) demonstrating the AMVCA’s dedication to broader Pan-African inclusion, cultural heritage, and representation of diverse linguistic and regional voices across the continent.

The grand ceremony for the 12th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria, in May 2026, with additional details expected in the coming weeks.

The AMVCA remains one of Africa’s foremost platforms for celebrating cinematic and television excellence, drawing widespread attention from creators, performers, and audiences.

Viewers are encouraged to watch the live nominee reveal on March 29 to see which projects and talents have earned recognition.
