Akulga Chairman Urges Maritime Workers to Prioritize Peace During Union Election

The Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon. Aboiya Bob-Fubara has urged members of the Abonnema Maritime union to prioritize peace and unity before personal ambitions.

Hon. Bob-Fubara who made the call during a strategic meeting of the union’s leadership and aspirants which held at the Council Secretariat in Abonnema on Tuesday 17 March 2026 said elections are seasonal but peace and unity are essential ingredients needed to ensure growth and development.

The Akuku-Toru local government council chairman used the medium to call for a seamless and peaceful electoral process to usher in a new leadership for the Abonnema Maritime Union for the next four years.

During the parley, the Council Chairman charged the stakeholders to prioritize the  stability of the union, emphasizing that a rancour-free election is essential for the progress of the maritime sector within the Local Government Area.

In their response, the aspirants present reaffirmed their commitment to a peaceful process and pledged to abide by democratic tenets during and after their election.

The aspirants also thanked the Executive Chairman of Akuku-Toru local government area for his timely intervention which necessitated the meeting.

The meeting was attended by officials of the Council, including the Vice Chairman of AKULGA, Warigbani George; the Secretary to the Council, Hon. Awowari Amakiri; the Chief of Staff, Chief Otomba Yellow; and the Chief Security Officer (CSO), Mr. Robinson Quarkers.
