The tragic road accident which left passengers injured happened as a trailer rammed into a bus from behind, causing the bus to lose control and somersault multiple times on the highway.
The two-month old baby had injury on her head, the mother’s left arm was badly affected, while other passengers had different degrees of injuries.
In an interview with TPCN, Miss Ayomide Olawuyi, a member of the team who spoke on behalf of Wene Port Harcourt, explained that, “we are on our way to Bayelsa, around Ahoada axis, on our way going a trailer hit a bus and the bus somersaulted and scattered on the floor and stopped right at our back.
“First, we drove forward and then parked. So everybody had to leave everything to go and rescue the people and that’s what happened.
“A little child and the mother were in the bus. We took them to the health center at Rumuji, that’s where they are. The child had serious injury but they put bandage on her head. The baby is just two months.
“We thank God that we came in on time because people were just watching, it’s best that we were there and we had to leave everything we were doing. They entered the car and we drove them to the nearest hospital which a bike man directed us to.
“People were just busy doing other things, it’s really disheartening.”
On the 1,050 farthest distance covered on foot, she revealed that it would not affect the movement. “We wanted to use it for our break but I don’t think. We will have to start a fresh, we are starting afresh. It can start here, it’s the kilometers that is counting.”
