Rivers Assembly Calls On Commissioner Nominees To Submit CVs

The Rivers State House of Assembly has called on nominees for appointment as commissioners and members of the Rivers State Executive Council to submit forty (40) copies of their Curriculum Vitae (CV).

In addition to the CVs, nominees are required to provide photocopies of their academic and professional credentials, as well as evidence of compliance with tax obligations. The Clerk of the House, Emeka Amadi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, which was obtained by The Port City News (TPCN).

The nominees include Professor Datonye Alasia, Tonye Bellgam, Professor Temple Nwofor, Dr Peters Nwagor, Mrs Charity Deemua Tamuno Williams, Esq, Mr Lekue Kenneth, Otonye TKD Amachree, Esq, and Sir Amairigha Edward Hart. The documents are to be submitted to the office of the Clerk of the House at the Rivers State House of Assembly Quarters.

TPCN gathered that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had forwarded the list of commissioner-nominees to the House of Assembly for screening and approval. The governor submitted the names after dissolving his cabinet and dismissing all Special Advisers, a move that came just 48 hours after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, confirmed ongoing reconciliation efforts to resolve the state’s prolonged political crisis.

The minister revealed that President Bola Tinubu met with key political figures from Rivers State, including Governor Fubara and his predecessor, in a renewed attempt to ease tensions stemming from the ongoing power struggle in the oil-rich state. The closed-door meeting, held at the Presidential Villa, also involved other influential leaders from Rivers.

Observers note that the governor’s swift cabinet dissolution and the subsequent submission of nominees mark a significant step towards stabilising the state’s political landscape while ensuring the legislative approval process proceeds without delay.
