President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirms his administration’s commitment to defeating terrorism, assuring Nigerians that the Federal Government will not surrender any part of the country to violent extremists.
The President vowed to take decisive action against terrorists responsible for the deadly attack in Kwara State, ordering a military offensive against them. The attack, which occurred in Woro village, resulted in the deaths of over 160 people, with many more abducted and houses burned.
Tinubu condemned the attack as “cowardly and barbaric,” stating that the gunmen targeted villagers who had rejected attempts to impose extremist rule.

According to him, the new military formation will lead Operation Savannah Shield, aimed at neutralising the attackers and protecting vulnerable communities in the area.
“I condemn in the strongest terms this heartless attack on innocent villagers,” Tinubu said, noting that the assailants deliberately targeted defenceless civilians in a bid to spread fear and terror.
The President said it was particularly disturbing that the victims were killed for resisting an attempt at forced indoctrination, describing the attack as an assault on humanity, faith and Nigeria’s shared values.
The US and other international communities have condemned the attack, with the US Mission in Nigeria expressing solidarity with the affected families and welcoming Tinubu’s security measures.
