‎Domestically, no doubt, Rivers United have been very solid, and currently going unbeaten in their last five league matches, including wins over Remo Stars and Rangers International. Notwithstanding, they’ve been struggling in the Champions League, picking up just one point from three games and failing to score freely.

‎Power Dynamos on one side—are also winless in the CAF Champions League group stage, with defeats to Pyramids FC and RSB Berkane and a draw against Rivers United in the reverse fixture. Their recent form has been inconsistent, and they’ve struggled to create chances away from home. With both teams desperate for points, this looks set to be a tight and cagey contest.

‎A professional Cape Verdean referee Leónidas Lenine Barbosa Da Graca has been appointed by Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officiate the CAF Champions League Group Stage encounter between Rivers United of Nigeria and Power Dynamos of Zambia.

‎The center referee will be supported by fellow Cape Verdean Delgado Fernandes Wilson Jorge, who takes up the role of first assistant referee. And also the likes of Ricardo Oliveira Sanca from Guinea-Bissau has been named second assistant referee, while his compatriot Aldair Alsau Lopes Grabe will serve as the fourth official.

‎The Pride of Rivers know that their campaign in this year’s CAF Champions League could be defined by the result of their next game in the championship against Power Dynamos of Zambia on Sunday in Uyo.

‎It is recalled that the Port Harcourt based team drew with the Zambians in Ndola last week and needs at least a win to harbour any hope of moving forward in the championship.

‎From a clear indication, it could be said that Rivers United is still haunted by their inability to defeat Morocco’s RS Berkane in their last home game in Uyo, making it important that they win the next game or fall out of the chase.

‎On the other hand, Osward Mutapa, Power Dynamos FC head coach has responded to questions about his Zambian team’s failure to score goals in the ongoing CAF Champions’ League (CAFCL) group-phase.

‎While the coach was speaking to his team’s media, he reacted to the concerns about Dynamos’ inefficiency upfront, suggesting that it was not his responsibility.

‎The Power Dynamos said that; “Football is played with pressure. The way they are creating chances, he doesn’t think they are a team that can’t score. They are a team that, at any given time, can even score four goals. Of course they  just have to believe in ourselves and have that self-confidence. Yes, they are missing a lot of chances, but he doesn’t think it is the coach who is supposed to go in and score those chances.”
