AGN Immortalises Junior Pope With Housing Estate

The Chairman of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Enugu Chapter, and initiator of the housing project, Brown Ene, has explained that the land was acquired as part of efforts to enhance the image of Nollywood and improve the welfare of guild members.

According to Ene, the initiative is aimed at providing affordable housing for members in Enugu, while also honouring the memory of the late actor, Junior Pope, who died in a boat mishap.
“So this is part of our progress in making sure that members of our guild have an affordable home in Enugu and we are naming it after our brother who died in a boat mishap to further immortalise him,” he said.

He added that the project is also intended to inspire younger actors within the industry to remain committed and responsible in their careers. “It is also to give encouragement to the younger actors showing them that the more you keep projecting the image of the organisation and being responsible enough, the guild will definitely do things to remember you,” Ene stated.

Ene further disclosed that Junior Pope’s three sons have each been allocated a plot of land, noting that the allocation process has already been completed.
“Junior Pope’s three sons will have plot of land each and the allocation has already been done and will be presented to their mother on their behalf,” he said.

In her response, Junior Pope’s wife, Mrs Jennifer Odonwodo, expressed deep appreciation to the guild for honouring her late husband through the project and for allocating land to their children.

“It’s indeed a great day, even though it’s a day filled with mixed feelings and emotions,” she said.
“I wish he was here and still being honoured, but nevertheless I’m happy it’s happening.
“It’s a proof to show that indeed he truly lives on because while he was here, he worked so hard for the industry,” she added.
