NOA, Environmental Agency Call For Caution Over Dusty Weather

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) in collaboration with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has urgently has urged Nigerians to be cautious with the current dusty weather, saying that it’s not harmattan, but an extreme form of air pollution that is harmful to health of an individual.

NOA  in a statement noted that, the weather can reduced lungs function, respiratory infections, inflammation and by oxidative stress which it may positively affects the human body’s balance.

The statement also stated further that, people should please take the following precautional measures like, wearing a nose mask, drinking plenty of water, covering food and water to keep dust off, washing fruits thoroughly before eating, staying indoors as much as possible, using shea butter (ORI) on your body and hair, especially before bed, drinking warm water regularly, especially among the elderly, avoiding the sun during hot afternoons.

”Do not eat cold food in the morning, especially for elderly, don’t use air conditioning or fans at night; wait until morning to avoid catching a cold, keep your chest warm until noon, always wear a nose mask in public places, like motorcycles or in a public transport”, the statement emphasized.

The Agency which noted that, the situation may last for a while, encouraged all Nigerians to stay safe and share the information with others for proper concern and protection of individual’s life at all levels.
