Google, the American multinational technology company known for its extensive suite of internet-based products and services has released its list of Nigeria’s most-searched personalities for 2025.
In a statement made available on its website on Thursday, Google revealed that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara was among the most searched individuals.
Also on the list were Senator Natasha Akpoti representing Kogi Central, Arsenal and England international midfielder, Eberechi Eze, actress Chika Ike, singer Mr Eazi, filmmaker Kemi Adetiba, Ajibola Elizabeth, Hilda Baci, VDM and Priscilla Ojo.
The governor made the list following the controversies that surrounded his suspension by President Bola Tinubu in March.
The Port City News (TCPN) reported that Tinubu declared a state of emergency in the state on 18 March and suspended Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu and all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly for an initial period of six months.
Tinubu appointed retired Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas as Administrator to oversee the state’s affairs in the absence of Fubara.
However, on 17 September, the President lifted the suspension. The governor and his deputy, and the House of Assembly returned to office. Upon his resumption, he vowed to be loyal to his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, and Tinubu.
Fubara also disclosed that he resisted the temptation to legally challenge the constitutionality of the declaration of emergency rule in Rivers on March 18 due to his commitment to peace.
He also maintained he would not take the kindness of Tinubu for granted during his address to the state citizens.
