Southern Ijaw LGA Holds Stakeholders’ Meeting to Simplify 2026 Citizens’ Budget

Southern Ijaw Local Government Council convened a consultative meeting with key stakeholders to simplify and explain the 2026 Citizens’ Budget.

The engagement held recently, brought together traditional rulers, youth leaders, women representatives, and other critical members of the community.

The meeting aimed to ensure that the Council’s financial plans, which include allocations from the Federation Account and internally generated revenue, are clearly communicated, easily understood, and accessible to the public.

This initiative aligns with the administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and inclusive governance.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Hon. Target Segibo, said the budget presentation was intended to promote transparency, encourage public participation, enhance governance outcomes, and support informed decision-making.

Stakeholders used the session to raise key issues affecting the Local Government Area, including staffing gaps in primary healthcare and education, as well as security concerns in volatile communities like Ukubie.

Chairman Segibo assured participants that the Assured Prosperity Administration of Governor Senator Douye Diri remains committed to addressing these concerns through responsive policies and decisive actions. He urged continued cooperation from all stakeholders to advance development across the LGA.
