Senate Confirms Ex-CDS, General Musa as New Minister of Defence

The Senate has on Wednesday 3 December 2025 confirmed the nomination of General Christopher Musa as the Minister of Defence of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

After presiding the screening exercise that lasting almost 3 hours, the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio confirmed the nomination.

The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio who recalled General Musa’s track record as the Chief of Army Staff and head of several theatre commands, commended President Tinubu for the choice of Christopher Musa, describing him as an experienced and a result orientation military boss.

While assuring General Christopher Musa of the full support of the National Assembly to enable him succeed, Senator Akpabio urged him to swing into action immediately he is given the oath of office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

General Musa who appeared before the Senate for the screening exercise and confirmation in company of several high ranking military retirees answered series of questions from the senators and gave an assurance that the war against terrorism plaguing the country can be won with the cooperation of all Nigerians.
