Government at all levels have been urged to harness the tourism potentials in the game of golf .
A Port Harcourt based golf enthusiast DR Patrick Ohia made the call at the closing ceremony of the CIO international golf championship which ended in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
DR Ohia frowned at the government over their failure to develop the game of golf in the country which he said could serve as a major source of Revenue for Nigeria
The golf enthusiast who is also the Chief Medical director of Morning star Hospital group in Port harcourt said the government could actualize it with the establishment of more golf courses across the country
“if you travel to Kenya , you would see several golf courses in the city of Nairobi which occasionally attract tourists to the country and become one of the sources of revenue for their nation’s economy” he explained.

DR Ohia who has sponsored several major golf tournaments in Port Harcourt and beyond further lamented that the sport hasn’t reached its Pinnacle in Nigeria owing to the government refusal to invest adequately in the sport.
Speaking on the recently concluded CIO international golf championship held in Port harcourt, the medical expert heaped encomium on the Chief executive officer Of Keves Global Limited, Chief Ikenna Okafor for sponsoring such a major open with huge prize money which attracted members of the Safari tour and top ranked professional golfers across Africa.
He opined that other well meaning Nigerians should borrow a leaf from the noble gesture of Chief. Ikenna Okafor who has taken the game of golf to the next level in the west African region by sponsoring the biggest golf championship within the sub Sahara region with huge prize money for the professional golfers who play the game solely for money.
