A witness, Onyedikachi Ohuchie, father of one of the two children allegedly murdered by Aniekan Sunday, has told a Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt that the first defendant confessed to killing the minors on the instruction of his native doctor, Kingsley Opurum.
Testifying before Justice Rita Ogugua, Ohuchie said he did not know either of the accused persons before the incident but became aware of them after their arrest. He explained that Sunday admitted that Opurum directed him to procure human blood for ritual purposes.
Justice Ogugua adjourned the matter till November 7 and 13, 2025, for the cross-examination of the second prosecution witness.

The defendants, Sunday and Opurum, are facing a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy and murder of two minors at Rukpokwu Town in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
According to the charge, the incident occurred on or about March 22, 2025, when Sunday allegedly used a kitchen knife to kill the two children and extract their blood as instructed by his native doctor, who purportedly intended to use it for money rituals.
Following the report from the Department of Public Prosecutions, the Rivers State Ministry of Justice, represented by Precious Ordu, has taken over the prosecution of the case on behalf of the state government.
