Police Apprehend Two Kidnappers in Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has announced the successful arrest of two suspected kidnappers involved in the abduction of a 24-year-old woman in Igbo Etche.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the state spokesperson confirmed this in a statement posted on her Facebook page on Wednesday. 

The victim was kidnapped on September 21, 2025, at approximately 8:30 PM. Acting swiftly on actionable intelligence received the following day, September 22, the Command’s Special Operations and Intelligence Team (SOIT) traced the suspects to a hideout in Egwi, Etche, and made arrests around 10:00 PM.

The arrested suspects were identified as 25-year-old Ifeanyi Chukwu Alozie from Okomoko, Etche Local Government Area, residing at Ndimasi Farm Road, Igbo Etche, and 25-year-old Miracle Nwimene from Zakpo, Khana Local Government Area, residing at Umuagagu Etche.

During their initial questioning, both suspects reportedly confessed to the crime, revealing they had lured the victim to Igbo Etche using a dating site before carrying out the kidnapping.

Despite the police pursuit, the abductors managed to collect a ransom of N200,000 from the victim’s relatives before her release. The victim has since been debriefed and reunited with her family.

The suspects are currently in police custody, and the investigation is ongoing, with efforts intensified to apprehend other accomplices who remain at large.

The Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga A. Adepoju, commended the operatives for their dedication and bravery.

He assured the public of the Command’s continuous commitment to safety and security, while urging citizens to exercise extreme caution when engaging in online dating due to the associated potential risks.
