Governor Fubara Visits State Secretariat Complex After Fire Incident

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has applauded the State Fire Service for their prompt response in quelling the fire incident at the State Civil Service Secretariat yesterday.

Speaking at an on the spot assessment of the damages done by the inferno which affected the Creche section at the Podium block of the secretariat, Governor Fubara pledged to commence rehabilitation of the secretariat complex to ensure safety of civil servants.

“Before the emergency rule, we took our time to invest in fire service, I wonder what would have happened if we didn’t have a formidable and functional fire service.”

“So we will continue to do those things we know will continue to lift Rivers People and make Rivers People happy.”

He expressed gratitude to God that no life was lost in the fire incident, saying government massive investment in the state’s fire service was not a waste, cognizance of the role it played to salvage the situation.

“It’s really unfortunate but we give God all the glory that no lives were lost and the damage was on just a section.”

“It’s like the secretariat has a creche that takes care of babies so I think it’s that section that was affected by the fire.”

“We have been talking about the renovation, the refurbishing of our very own foremost secretariat and I believe with this very incident, there won’t be any reason not to continue it.”

He assured that his administration will continue to do those things that will always uplift the morale of Rivers people and make them happy.
