Popular Nigerian skit maker and content creator Raji Samad Adetola, widely known as Mr Sanku Comedy, tragically passed away following a fatal car accident in the early hours of Monday, September 1, along the Oyo-Ogbomoso expressway in Ibadan.
According to eyewitness reports and viral footage circulating on social media, the vehicle in which Sanku was travelling veered off the road and crashed into a ditch. He was riding alongside a friend when the accident occurred. Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital but were pronounced dead a few hours later.
Sanku, who began his content creation journey in 2021, quickly rose to fame for his unique storytelling style, relatable humour, and vibrant personality. He amassed a loyal following online, especially on TikTok, where his skits often highlighted everyday Nigerian life with wit and originality.
Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa shared her grief on Instagram, revealing that she had sent one of her students, who lives near Bowen Hospital, to check on Sanku after hearing of the accident. The student initially reported that he was responding to treatment, giving hope to fans and loved ones. However, Awelewa later confirmed his passing, expressing heartbreak over the loss despite her fervent prayers.
